La Guerra o La Paz
La Guerra o La Paz
The novel by Russian writer Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910), written after breaking his arm when he fell from a horse, tells the stories of those who lived through the Napoleonic invasion (1812) of Russia, as well as his own experience in the Crimean War. (now Ukraine), by exposing the cruelty of war, with vivid details and first-person accounts.
Ukraine has been suffering unjustified aggression from its neighbor to the north for 19 months, and in the midst of this warlike and tense atmosphere, the Moscow National Ballet will perform in Panama. The message it will transmit will be peace with war thunder or, the ferocity of war converted into art. The Russian defense minister visited Pyongyang to celebrate the armistice in the north of the Korean peninsula, but not peace, this sent two great messages, both are allied countries, and they reaffirm their support for the war in Ukraine, the result of which could lead to an exchange of ballistic weapons that destabilize Northeast Asia and the region. Celebrating peace is positive, but it does not help with allies in a constant state of war. A war that began as a simple and quick operation, but its continued extension continues to cause suffering by separating dozens of families, affecting physical and mental health for generations.
Without forgetting, the ecological disaster, famine and the rise in prices of basic products in third countries, the fall in purchasing power due to economic sanctions, among others. Conflagration is not a profitable business and provides nothing to the human intellect, as is dance. An art based on body expression, which is accompanied by music. A way for the human being to express himself for artistic, entertainment, therapeutic or religious purposes.
Ballet, as such, emerged in Renaissance Italy (1400-1600). During the reign of Louis XIV of France, the Sun King, the first dance school was founded (1661), the Académie Royale de la Dance. It evolves with variations in style, according to geography, be it French, Italian or Russian. Then, elements are incorporated into classical ballet, unusual techniques and movements, which lead to contemporary and neoclassical ballet.
Dance projects peace, touching the soul of each individual, by expressing or transmitting the sensation of joy, sadness, tradition, technique, physical condition, union, synchronization; so that the articulated movements allow providing the desired sensations to the audience that views them. Dance as a vehicle to distract attention, provides a surreal and dangerous environment, glorifying the atrocities of the conflict with dark interpretations. Its use is crude and at the same time despicable. Panama welcomes peace, free, apolitical artistic expressions, without illusions, and rejects psychological manipulation whose subliminal background transmits a reality different from what is happening in Ukraine. Peace and good! * Historian.
